- Count the number of steps it takes to cover the distance, from start to finish.
- Divide the number of metres/feet by the number of steps. Metres/feet divided by steps equals your stride length in metres/feet.

If it takes you 27 steps to cover 20 metres then your average stride length is 0.74 metres.
